Q. What are you working on right now?
I am in the process of writing my third book which is all about creating Unstoppable Confidence. Within the business, we have set up some exciting relationships with organizations around the world to help our message reach an even wider audience.
Q. Can you give us a detailed overview of what your content covers?
My content on the SocialTalent platform is “Moving Through Stress as a New Manager”. In every single course I deliver, whether it is focusing on a mental health issue such as anxiety or a personal development issue such as Managing Imposter Syndrome, stress is almost always a factor which needs to be addressed. All of us are also far more likely to be stressed whenever we encounter a novel situation, so looking at stress and its impact when we take on a role of being a new manager is designed to help managers understand their stress, the stress their team may encounter and importantly how to manage it in a healthy way for all involved.
Q. Why is this an important topic of study right now?
Over the past 3 years, we have all had to encounter some huge stressors, not least a pandemic but also our own individual challenges within that time. Stress seems an evermore present part of all of our daily lives. It is interesting to me that we get taught algebra and the biology of a plant at school and yet it is highly unlikely any of us have ever had stress and our response to stressors explained to us. When we understand this better we can make better choices in managing our own stress and be more sensitive to identifying stress in others.
Q. What do you hope learners will gain from doing your missions?
I really hope it gives learners that deeper understanding of stress and their own responses. So many of us flippantly say “I am stressed” without truly understanding what that means and how we are wired to physiologically and psychologically respond to it. By understanding the neuroscience of stress along with having proven ways to manage stress, this mission could help transform individuals both at work and at home.
